Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the GRC Lab platform ("the Lab," "the Service"), operated by Privacy Bytes ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or purchasing a membership, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

GRC Lab is an online learning platform that helps professionals build practical skills and portfolio projects for careers in privacy, AI governance, GRC, and cybersecurity. The Service includes a role catalogue, guided project labs, certification and resource directories, salary data, progress tracking, and, for Premier members, a monthly live webinar.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to create an account, and you are responsible for keeping your password confidential. You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a membership. One account per person; accounts may not be shared, transferred, or resold.

3. Memberships and billing

The Lab is offered as a paid subscription in two tiers: Standard and Premier. Each tier is available with monthly or annual billing. Team plans are also available, billed per seat with monthly or annual billing. Current prices are shown on our pricing page and exclude applicable taxes.

Team subscriptions are purchased by a team owner who may invite members by email. Each invited member receives their own Lab account with full access while the team subscription is active. The team owner may add or remove seats at any time; seat changes are prorated by Stripe.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Annual plans are billed once per year; monthly plans are billed once per month.

We may change prices for future billing periods. If we do, we will notify you in advance, and the new price will apply from your next renewal. You may cancel before the change takes effect if you do not accept it.

4. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your membership at any time from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you will retain access until then.

We want you to be glad you joined the Lab. If something went wrong, we will make it right. You may request a full refund within 7 days of your payment for any of the following reasons:

• You were charged in error, for example a duplicate charge, the wrong amount, or a charge made after you canceled.
• You selected the wrong tier by accident. In most cases we can simply move you to the correct tier instead of refunding.
• A technical problem on our end prevented you from accessing the Lab, and we could not resolve it within a reasonable time.
• You changed your mind within 7 days of payment and have not made substantial use of the membership, for example completing multiple labs or projects.

To keep the Lab fair for genuine members, we review each refund request individually. We may decline a refund where there is a pattern of repeated refund requests.

After 7 days from the payment date, payments are non-refundable, including partial refunds for unused time in a billing period. To request a refund, contact us at dopio@privacybytes.net within 7 days of your payment.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Share your account credentials or provide access to non-members.
• Copy, redistribute, or resell Lab content outside the platform.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of regulations.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the platform.
• Submit real personal data of any individual into project exercises or any part of the Service.

6. Intellectual property

All content in the Lab, including project guides, templates, examples, role data, and site design, is owned by Privacy Bytes and protected by intellectual property laws. Your membership grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the content for your own personal, non-commercial learning. You may reference completed portfolio projects in job applications, provided you follow the safe portfolio rules stated in each lab (use fictional companies and data, label assumptions).

8. Webinars (Premier)

Premier membership includes access to a monthly live webinar. Webinar schedules are announced in advance. We may reschedule a session when necessary and will provide reasonable notice. Webinar content may be recorded and made available to members.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, including for payment failures or misuse of the Service. You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your membership and contacting us to delete your account data.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Privacy Bytes will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid for your membership in the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or through the platform. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
